Redskins Earn Two Awards For 2009 Season

The Yakima Redskins program was honored with two great awards for the 2009 Season. The awards are as follows :


- The Redskins organization was voted the 2009 YVGKA UPPER VALLEY TEAM SPIRIT AWARD

- Demian Walter was voted as the 2009 YVGKA UPPER VALLEY COACH OF THE YEAR


These are two awards that everyone involved with the Redskins organization can be very proud of because everyone played a part in this season. As a coach I feel totally blessed by the good Lord above to have the most amazing kids to coach in the world. Thank you all for trusting me with your kids and allowing me to coach and develop them as players and kids. I also feel blessed to have the best group of parents in the whole league, you guys represent the team with class and respect and have done a great job supporting what we do. Thank you to all of the assistant coaches for your support and hard work and commitment to the kids and the program, these kids will remember you forever, you guys are the best coaching staff and a great bunch of guys. I also thank the cheerleaders and the cheer team coaches Marcie Rivera and Mel, you guys are the best cheer squad in the league and you guys represent the Redskins with class and excellence. Thank you to all the volunteer parents that help me with administration and operational duties. Thank you to all our supporters and friends of the program for being a part of the Redskins. Thank you to our sponsors Changing Pointe Ministries, Evans & Son Excavation, Yakima Muffler Shop, Sonic Drive In and The Sub Shop. If I missed anyone I am sorry and I truly thank you as well. Thank you most of all to my wife Christine for all of her support and involvement and sacrifices to help make all this possible, I love you Chrissy.

2009 YVGKA PLAYOFFS

WAY TO GO REDSKINS!!! For the first time in many, many years the Redskins Varsity and Junior Varsity teams have BOTH advanced to the Championship Game of the YVGKA PLAYOFFS. I am so proud of you boys. Lets keep it going one more week boys.

The Redskins Varsity team beat Grandview 14 - 12 in a very exciting game. Congratulations on making it to the CHampionship game boys.

The Redskins Junior Varsity team beat West Valley Scouts (King) 13-12. That was one of the best games of the year. A hard fought, clean, competitive game by both teams. Alot of respect goes out to the West Valley Scouts (King) team that was a tough group of boys who were well coached and played a great game as well. Our boys took quite a beating from the Scouts, but the boys fought through the pain and got the job done when it mattered the most. What an unbelievable defensive performance by the JV team in the 4th quarter. The Scouts were inside our 20 yard line almost the entire 4th quarter and the boys held them out of the end zone every time in the 4th quarter. Congratulations on making it to the Championship Game again boys. I am very, very proud of you guys.

Congratulations!!!

The Redskins JV Team wrapped up the 2009 regular season by going undefeated and earning 1st place in the regular season Upper Valley Division.

The Varsity Team clinched their 1st playoff berth in 4 years. The Varsity team finished 2nd place in the regular season Upper Valley Division.


The B-10 Team and the Freshman Team both finished the 2009 season with a great effort and great heart and improved every week. Thanks for the great effort and commitment boys.


For the Varsity and JV Team there is still one more week of football left have fun and work hard and leave it all on the field. Good luck boys.
